Beautiful Autumn Leaves Spots in Tokyo
Below are Tokyo’s most popular autumn foliage spots. Usually, autumn color in Tokyo is beautiful from late November to early December.
Meiji Jingu Gaien
The Icho Namiki at Meiji Jingu Gaien Park is the popular, ginkgo lined avenue. 146 trees are lined up in the 300 meter long avenue from Aoyama Ichome station to Meiji Jingu Gaien Park. It is called Golden Road in autumn. Leaves of beautifully shaped trees turn into golden color from late November.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
This big park, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is full of various trees. You would be able to see red, golden, and yellow color for a longer time than other places thanks to the variety of trees. Our most recommendation for autumn color here is the Japanese garden.

Rikugien
Rikugien, one of the most popular autumn foliage in Tokyo, is at Komagome. This Japanese landscape garden has about 400 trees that beautifully turn into autumn color. The view from Togetsukyo Bridge is our recommendation that we don’t want you to miss. Different but both wonderful views can be seen at the daytime and at night illumination.

Showa Memorial Park
Showa Memorial Park (Showa Kinen Koen) is a huge park at Tachikawa. The park has several gardens including beautiful Japanese garden with maples. Most recommended stunning spots are the two tunnels of golden gingko trees. Japanese garden and one of the gingko streets are beautifully illuminated until November 24th.

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum has a large beautiful garden which is the popular spot for autumn color. It is possible to enter only the garden (not entering the museum) by paying JPY 200. Contrasts of the Japanese style garden and the art deco style building of museum are recommended points.

Mt. Takao
Mt. Takao, one of the most popular autumn foliage spots, is a 599 meter height beautiful mountain located at western Tokyo. The mountain are beautifully colored in red, yellow and golden during the autumn season. Viewing the autumn color from a cable car here is also recommendable. Mt. Takao is a popular hiking destination throughout the year.

Yoyogi Park
Yoyogi Park has about 1,300 trees which turn into autumn colors. It is a large western style park near Harajuku area. Collaboration of red maples and golden gingko trees are just so amazing. The park has a lot of benches so you can take a seat and view autumn leaves.

Hibiya Park
Hibiya Park at Hibiya is surely the huge oasis of the business town. Famous gingko line avenue is S-shaped which is the same design since the opening of this park, 1903. Red maples and yellow, golden gingko trees are stunning. Our recommendation is the view of trees with the central pond which is Japan’s third oldest pond for ponds at parks.

Koishikawa Korakuen
Koishikawa Korakuen is another famous autumn color spot located near Iidabashi station. This Japanese style garden is designated as a special historic site and a place of special scenic beauty. Autumn color with three main ponds and amazing red colored Tsutenkyo bridge is incredible.

Hamarikyu Garden
Hamarikyu Garden at Shiodome is a renowned garden designated as a special historic site and a place of special scenic beauty. Even though the number of autumn trees is lower than other places, autumn color at Japanese style garden with tea house and a central pond is beautiful.

Shiba Park is a historical park that was first officially designated as a park in Japan in 1873. The park has a 10 meter height waterfall which goes beautiful with the autumn color. Here, you can go see autumn leaves with the Tokyo’s symbol, Tokyo Tower.
