Eating around at Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade

Where is Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade?

Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade is 1.3 kilometers long shopping arcade at Togoshi Ginza Station of Tokyu Ikegami Line and Toei Asakusa Line. It is the longest shopping arcade in Tokyo, bustling with many people. Japan has about 350 “~ Ginza” shopping arcades such as Jujo Ginza Shopping Arcade but this Togoshi Ginza is the first “~ Ginza” shopping arcade in Japan. The street has about 400 shops and is famous as the walk-and-eat spot filled with lots of tourists. I went to enjoy eating at this Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade on one Sunday afternoon!

Tokyu Ikegami Line’s beautiful wooden station.Arrived at Tokyu Ikegami Line’s Togoshi Ginza station at sunny afternoon! As the station is located at the middle of the arcade, you will see stores on the both sides once you get out the station. I went to the left side from the station first.

About 400 stores are lined up at this long street.

①Skewers of Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken at Tori and Deli

This is that skewer (JPY 300)! Look at this beautiful colored sweet and spicy sauce! This is the classic fried chicken. Loved it.

②Skewers of meat wrapped rice ball at Tontan

Next I visited Tontan where is famous for rice bowls. Ordered a skewer of meat wrapped rice ball(JPY 250) to go.

It is the best combination of a well simmered, flavored pork and sticky rice.

③Oden and Oden Croquette?! at Goto Kamaboko store

Decided to eat in the store! These are what I ordered. Sake set (JPY 500) that includes beer and three kinds of Oden; I chose a tube shaped fish cake, deep fried tofu mixed with vegetables, and white radish. The flavor of soup stock has soaked right in which perfectly went well with beer.

And this is the store’s specialty, Oden Croquette(JPY 100)! Since I have never tried or heard about Oden croquette before, I couldn’t imagine how it taste like. BUT… it was so delicious I would like you to try! The sweetness of potato and Oden soup stock harmonized perfectly.

④Koshian (smooth red bean paste) bread at Halimaya

I had a craving for something sweet after eating Oden and Oden croquette.Visited Halimaya where its very very spicy curry bread is popular.

This time, I chose koshian bread (JPY 150) instead of curry bread! It was so delicious that sophisticated sweetness of koshian (smooth red bean paste) and soft bread goes well together. Next time, I will try its classic menu, very very spicy curry bread…!

⑤Freshly made grilled soup dumping at Ryuki

Then forward to this store with long line! Ryuki is a speciality store of delicious grilled soup dumplings.

Ordered a set of grilled soup dumplings (JPY 270). The combination of juicy soup and meat is just exquisite.

⑥Melon bread (Melon-shaped bun) at Beicon

I was little bit full so looked for sweet food again! Came to this bakery, Beicon where is particular about additives free bread.

Beicon’s bread does not include trans-fatty acid such as margarine and shortening.

I bought this melon-shaped bun called melon bread(JPY 190) in Japan. The sweet flavor of muskmelon and chewy soft bread was very delicious that I ate all up instantly!

⑦Taiyaki style Okonomiyaki!? at Omedetaiyaki Honpo

The store’s popular menu is this Okonomi Taiyaki (JPY 190)! Mixture of Taiyaki and Okonomiyaki. Of course, standard flavored Taiyaki, anko (red bean paste) and custard are yummy but this original Okonimi Taiyaki is also great!Cabbage, ham, and mayonnaise, harmonize perfectly with sauces. It was first time for me to eat Okoniyaki with sweet Taiyaki dough which I loved it!It is recommendable for a dish and a snack!

⑧Yakitori at Ryuho

I chose Yakitori (Japanese style skewered chicken) for this day’s last dish.

Ordered Negima (JPY 140) and Tsukune (JPY 118)! Negima is grilled chicken and green onion, Tsukune is grilled chicken meat balls. As you can see… it looks just so delicious. Freshly made piping hot Yakitori was the best choice to call it a night!

How was Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade? The street is filled with so many delicious dishes that there are more stores than ones introduced at this page. Near to this arcade, you can also find an unchanged traditional public bathing facility. It is a great spot to take your time and enjoy for the whole day.
