“The historical and traditional theatre for Kabuki performances!”

Kabuki is a traditional Japanese show performed by male. All the performers are male and only male are accepted following the tradition. Kabukiza theatre opened in 1889 as a theatre for Kabuki shows. The current theatre opened in 2013 after the renovations from 2010. Kabukiza theatre has a Kabukiza gallery on the 5th floor where you can learn the history of Kabuki. A Kabuki show is about 4~5 hours and usually has 2 shows in 1 day, from afternoon and from night. As it is quite hard to understand everything on the show even for the Japanese, we recommend getting an audio guide to enjoy more!
